Dart Totnes Mini Head 2009

A very impressive quality of rowing was seen from Exmouth RC at the Dart Totnes Mini Head this year. The race, held over 3000 meters, allowed Exmouth's athletes to test out their new crews and put all of their new coaching tips into practice. First Division: First crew off was the Exmouth Men's Senior C 4+ of Ed Pearce(Not cox...!), Charlie Alien, Chris Long, Sam Malloy & Olivia Barnard (cox). The crew won the category in 11:41, and placed 5th overall in the Division. Second Division: 2nd Exmouth crew to set off were the newly formed J18 crew of Olivia Barnard, Phobe Hall, Abbey Swain and Serena Mcgunnius. They dominated their competition in the Women's Novice quads by beating their rivals by 1 and a half minutes!! The girls clocked 12:53, very impressive stuff from the newbie rowers! Charlie Alien gave the Men's J181x a shot and clocked a solid time of 12:30. Anybody who competes a head race in a scull deserves a flippin' medal in my opinion. Third division: The two pairings of Sam & Chris, and Ollie & Tim entered the Men's Novice Double sculls. Ollie & Tim, fine boat first-timers, ranked 37th in the Division and clocked 15:26. Sam & Chris clocked 12.23, won the catagory and ranked 4th overall in the division. The Woman's Novice 4+ of Kim Tapper, Allie Giles, Olivia Barnard, Pheobe Hall, and Ed Pearce (cox) placed 2nd in their category and were only 9 seconds behind the winners! They clocked 15:13 and ranked 34th in the division. Many thanks to Brian for putting in the time in throughout the season, and organising everybody as usual!
