Falmouth Regatta 2007
Exmouth entered a number of new crews into this 1000 metre sprint regatta on Sithians Lake, both of which had never sat in a boat in that formation before. First of the new crews was the J16 4x+. Jack Pearce, Charlie Angel, Marcus Bowyer & Ed Pearce coxed by Sam Malloy, gave a fine performance, with their fitness playing a key part to the race. They started off in last place and rowed through 3 other crews to take 3rd place overall. A fantastic results chaps!
The second new crew to hit the water was the MN4+. Rob Williams, Charlie Angel, Marcus Bowyer and Ed Pearce, coxed by Sam Malloy, gave a fine performance, beating a strong Falmouth crew and just missing the win to Paignton who will shortly be moving up to Senior C.
The MSC4+ crew of Sam Malloy, Chris Long, Rob Williams & Jack Pearce coxed by Ed Pearce, managed to hold of Bideford & Falmouth throughout their race and took 3rd place overall.
Chris Long also entered the first heat of the Mens Novice 1x. He was heading for a clear 2nd place (A personal best for Chris) but took a bad course and rowed a zigzag when approaching the finish line and dropped down to third. DOH!
The Mens Senior C Double Scull of Sam Malloy and Rob Williams gave the winners of the race a tough ride when they caught up with them in the last 250 metres of the race. The Exmouth boys were only 2 feet behind on the finish line!
Mike Drew and Rob Williams entered the Mens Vet 1x. Mike, being the older out of the 4 that entered, had a head start. And poor Rob, being the youngest, started last! Giving him no chance to catch up with the triumphant winner - Mike Drew!
The Junior 16 Double Scull pairing of Jack Pearce and Charlie Angel proved invincible against two Bideford Reds crews, and won the event by a clear distance - Lets make this a habit boys!
