Bideford Regatta 2007
Almost all 7 of Exmouths competitors were successful on the river Torridge on day 2 of this years Double Header. After yesterdays victories at Torbay Regatta, no one would have predicted that the boys could have the same amount of success two days running!
Sam Malloy and Rob Williams placed 2nd and 3rd in the Mens Open Sculls (heat 1) and qualified for the final, but scratched due to the bad timing between their other races.
Mike Drew placed 4th in the Heat 2.
Exmouths Junior 16 Quad (Jack Pearce, Charlie Angel, Marcus Bowyer & Ed Pearce coxed by Sam Malloy) were beaten to the line by Bideford Reds, who the Exmouth boys beat the day before!
When the J164x+ race was over, Marcus and Ed got straight out of the quad four, and into the double scull to race the Junior 14 2x. In the race, they stuck to the good water and beat the Bideford juniors by a distance.
Other successes were achieved in the double sculls from Sam and Rob winning the Mens Open 2x, and Jack and Charlie winning the Junior 16 2x.
Jack and Charlie also placed 1st and 2nd in the Mens Junior 16 Single Sculls.
The Mens Senior C crew of Sam Malloy, Chris Long, Rob Williams and Jack Pearce Coxed by Ed Pearce, once again gave a performance to be proud of, winning the catagory and taking home the trophy!
Ed and Marcus also raced the J141x against 2 Dartmouth scullers. They proved to be no problem for Marcus and won the race by a good few lengths. Ed placed 4th.
Overall, Exmouth RC placed 3rd for the regatta shield, with Bideford Reds in 1st place. Exmouth truly gave their best performance to date this weekend, with a total of 15 wins from 2 days races!
Many thanks to Brian, Jane, Bob, Karen & Ray for showing their support over the weekend.
