MORE WINS FOR EXMOUTH

Exmouth Rowing Club set out for North Devon last Sunday to brave the wet and windy weather conditions at Appledore and Instow’s annual regatta.

The 1000m course, at the mouth of the river Torridge, was not for the faint-hearted as crews set out in the fine boats into the choppy waters.
The first win of the day was claimed by the Novice Ladies Four; Kim Tapper, Ali Giles, Sophie Medlock and Sophie Douglas despite a considerable amount of bailing on the start line!

The second win was claimed by the club’s dynamic duo; Charlie Angell and Chris Long in the Men’s Senior C double.

The third and final win of the day was obtained by the scratch coastal boat mixed crew; Charlie Angell, Chris Long, Ali Giles and Kim Tapper, who stormed the course in the last race event of the day coming a strong first place.

Exmouth’s fine boat Novice Mixed Crew raced in the Senior C category and came second. The Ladies Novice Double; Kim Tapper and Ali Giles unfortunately fell afoul of the weather conditions and capsized a few meters into the race, despite a promising first place start.

Club Captain, Brian O’Dea, stated that he was impressed at how the crews handles the water and delighted with the wins that the crews managed as a result.
