EXMOUTH MAKE A SPLASH IN OFFSHORE ROWING

This month saw the Exmouth Rowing Club make a clean sweep in Torquay's 8K Thatcher Rock event.  Ladies,  Mens and Mixed crews,  rowing coxed quads,  took line honours in all three races.  In the teeth of worsening weather conditions,  months of hard training certainly paid off.  Junior Coach Kim Tapper,  who coxed two of the crews to victory,  was delighted.  "This is a huge plus for the club.  We're making a real impact on the local regatta scene".

A dramatic image from Exmouth-based photographer Tom Hurley has meanwhile made the cover of prestigious UK magazine ROWING.  Tom's shot,  captured during a local regatta,  captures both the essence of offshore rowing and the glories of Exmouth seafront,  stately backdrop for a moment of unique excitement.  Cox Mike Drew,  a senior official with the club,  is the guy at the back of the boat.  Since Tom snapped this picture,  Mike has bought himself a fully-waterproof dry suit.
